Microdermabrasion |
 |
It is a non-chemical, non-invasive
cosmetic procedure for skin resurfacing in which the dry, dead
outermost surface of the skin is removed by light abrasion.
This technique works mainly for sun-damaged skin, scars, dark
spots on the skin as well as acne scars, fine lines and other
effects of aging. It can also stimulates the production of a new
layer of skin cells containing higher levels of collagen which
will further improve the skin's appearance yielding a clearer
,younger and healthier-looking glow of the skin.
The two main types of microdermabrasion
are: Crystal Microdermabrasion and Diamond Microdermabrasion.
The Crystal microdermabrasion technology
involves the use of a special hand piece that propels a
high-speed flow of aluminum oxyde crystals across the skin
causing gentle exfoliation that breaks up dead skin and other
imperfections. At the same time, the used crystals along with
dead skin cells are sucked away by the machine's vacuum system.
The diamond microdermabrasion , on the
other hand, uses diamond tip wands made of natural diamond
chips. It polishes the skin and removes dead cells, which are
then vacuumed back into a waste filter. This is mainly used for
areas around the eyes and mouth.
Microdermabrasion is suitable for all
types of skin and is ideal for skin sensitive to chemical
procedures. It is often referred to as the “lunch hour” facial
because it can be completed in as little as thirty minutes and
normal regular activities can be resumed immediately afterwards.
In order to obtain the best results, this should be repeated every
10 days for a total of 6-8 sessions.
