Adominoplasty |
 |
While liposuction only removes fat,
abdominoplasty is a surgical procedure designed to trim away
sagging skin from the middle and lower abdomen and to tighten
the abdominal wall muscles; both of which will improve the
contour of the body by flattening the abdomen and dramatically
reducing the appearance of a protruding abdomen.
The best candidates for this surgery are
women who, through multiple pregnancies or those who previously
had been overweight, have their abdominal muscles and skin
stretched beyond the point where they can return to the shape
they desire even with diet and exercise.
Although some fat is removed during
abdominoplasty, the goal of this procedure is not to remove an
excessive amount of fat, but rather to eliminate unattractive,
sagging skin and small amounts of fatty tissue stuck in the
lower abdominal wall. It can be done under local anesthesia and
if needed, it can be combined with a targeted liposuction for
body sculpting purposes.
